Work like you don’t need the money

Oftentimes we believe that when great inspiring quotes are first said, it is on the back of great experiences. But no, I am starting to believe that many a great quote resonate with us because they were said by a person like you and me, in the trenches of life, who through hard work, determination and the occasional loving and dancing became someone great.

I have always loved this quote – mainly for its reference to love and dance.

On reading up a bit on the trials and tribulations of Satchel Paige’s life I realised that this quotee (Wiktionary says this is a real word), was very likely not living his best life when he said this; he lived at a very difficult time in American history, had a tough upbringing and despite now being in the Baseball Hall of Fame, lived a life unlike that of the sporting heroes of our times.
